GI Research in a Veterinary School

M. Sawkat Anwer Anwer, DMVH, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Associate Dean for Research at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Dr Anwer has been performing GI research for more than 40 years and is the former chair of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases Hepatobiliary Pathophysiology study section. As part of this issue of Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology, highlighting the important role veterinary researchers play in the GI research community, Dr Anwer offers insights into the unique challenges and opportunities associated with establishing a successful research program at a veterinary school.
